Haha so basically I'm teaching myself cat genetics more completely because genetics are fun. I already knew the basics but I want some practice. So you should give me random cats/OTPs/whatever and I'll work out the possibilities for the litters! You could also give me a cat and their sibling and have me see what their parents could be. Or whatever, really. If you just want your random npc's for your bio to be genetically accurate, that's pretty much what this is here for.
Oh and if you're using me as your litter generator the parents of each parent would be helpful.
Ooh, this is cool! Cat genetics are super interesting aaah. Well, how about this pairing from a different RP site I'm on- longhair solid white molly with blue eyes x longhair light brown tabby tom with amber eyes Molly's parents were both also solid white, tom's parents unknown but probably grey tabby or brown tabby, possibly with white. The molly carries brown tabby under her white. What kind of kits could they make?
Yep, that's what I thought haha. Hmm, how about this one? Shorthair tortie molly with orange eyes x longhair brown tabby tom with minor white spotting and yellow eyes? Tom's parents were a medium/longhair tortie with amber eyes and a brown tabby tom, molly's parents unknown.
First, if the molly carries longhair the kittens have a 50/50 shot at longhair. If not, they'll all be shorthair.
As for pelt colors, these are the chances for the females: 25% black, 25% brown tabby, 25% tortie, 25% torbie.
And the males: 25% black, 25% brown tabby, 50% ginger tabby.
All of these have a chance of low grade white spotting. Eyes will probably be orange/amber/yellow but green is possible, especially on the torbies. There's a slim chance of blue on any with white spotting.
The genetics stuff on WCRPG led me to believe that brown tabbies could make blue tabbies, without blue tabby genetics coming into play. Huh. Guess they were wrong? I usually went by this list ahah [x] I have no idea how accurate it is, they might be completely wrong ahah. Thanks though! That's cool! Hmm.... How about something different this time? Let's see if Brightfang's kits were genetically possible and/or what the dad had to have been for her litters? Note, since she didn't have a mate and just kinda did whatever, it's possible there could be multiple fathers in each litter? Brightfang herself is shorthair with blue eyes, patched with dark brown tabby. First litter- Ivykit, Cloudkit, Lichenkit, Newtkit, Owlkit, and Palekit. Ivykit-F- dark brown tabby with some white Cloudkit-F- white with tiny grey patches on ears and tail Lichenkit-F- dilute torbico Newtkit-F- dappled torbie with some white Owlkit-M- brown tabby with white Palekit-F- pure white (the type where white spotting covers all colour, not the white masking gene)
Second litter- Rosekit and Frostkit Rosekit-M-pale ginger tabby with white Frostkit-F-white with tiny amounts of torbie on ears and head
Oh, it slipped past me that if both of them carried dilute then they could have dilute kittens. That's unlikely though, with the tom's parents.
Alright, let's get down to it.
Brightfang has to carry dilute for Ivykit, Lichenkit and Rosekit. The father of these kits, at least, must also carry dilute. She also must carry not-tabby as long as Cloudkit is genetically solid grey under the white.
As for red/not red/tortie, Brightfang is female. That means she must have two "not red" alleles. Her female kits can be tortie if the father is red, or not-red if the father is not-red. No males can be red. This means Rosekit is technically not possible. It also means her first litter had at least two fathers.
Father 1: Ivykit, Cloudkit. Either grey, or black carrying dilute. Must be solid/carrying solid. Probably with some white.
Father 2: Lichenkit, Newtkit. Ginger tabby, either dilute or carrying dilute.
Owlkit and Palekit could be from either father.
Rosekit's genetically impossible, Frostkit's father would be a ginger tabby, probably with a good amount of white.
Ooh, I think the WCRPG list assumes all cats are carrying dilute for some reason? Ahaha. Aaah that's all really cool though! Poor impossible Rosekit Thanks! This is really interesting. I really like cat genetics stuff ahaha.
