So you may know that I love webcomics. Way too many to make separate threads for all of them. If anyone wants to open threads for discussion later, that's cool.
Unsounded - Top of the list because this is the one I really follow. The worldbuilding is great, the characters are great, the story is great. It's fantasy, but not you standard I Can't Beleive It's Not Tolkein! fantasy. There are magic zombies and creepy twin slaughters and a theiving little girl with a lion's tail. And the art is fantastic and only gets better as you read. It updates three times a week and it's amazing. If you want an actual blurb, here it is. Now go forth, and then come back to squeal with me please. :o
Digger - Just finished this one a couple days ago. It's a story about a wombat named Digger, who just wants to get back home to where people haven't all lost their minds and squash don't develop homicidal tendencies. I guarantee you will love her and her story. It has untrustworthy magic, a dead god, sentient hyenas, and a demon baby who needs to be taught how morality works. It also uses "by now familiar sounds of grumpy ethereal chanting!" as a sound effect. If that doesn't make you want to read it, I don't know what will.
Unicorn Jelly - Do you like stories that start simple and turn out impossibly epic? Do you like amazingly detailed worldbuilding to the point where the author thought of a substitute for atoms? Do you like cute gay couples? Lesbians? Trans characters? Tons of neat background info like character bios? Unicorn Jelly ran from 2000 to 2003, and it has all of this and so much more. It's a world where science and magic are forever at-odds, in an alien realm with things like sentient jellies that humans seem to have stumbled into. I spent a whole day on it a couple months back, and I have no regrets. Please read this.
Nature of Nature's Art - We already have a thread on this, actually, but I wanted it on my list. There are several stories, but 10%+ is the best to start with - it explains the difficult-to-grasp concepts that the stories rely on. The thing about these comics is that they're hard to read. Really hard. They're also super creepy and unsettling in a really novel way. But the concept is so unique, the stories so varied, the characters and plots so compelling, it's really worth a shot.
Seed - I found this one through a tutorial on drawing trees (which was super helpful, by the way.) I'm not super into it compared to the others on my list, but it's cute and the art is quality. Worth a look at, at the least.
Floraverse - This is more of a project than just a comic, but the comic itself is cool. The deal is, PurpleKecleon has this world, and she's making comics about some of her characters in it, and it's completely open for participation. I actually have a few characters of my own. The first and current comic is Seeds, about a little bird and an icicle-water-blob who are trying to help a couple of continents. This seems to involve going to the underworld, for reasons we haven't yet been told. Great art, cute story, interesting world. I am actually voicing Cress, the icicle blob, in an animation that'll be coming out of the first couple chapters. Ah, the joys of Creative Commons.
Rare Candy Treatment - Commentary on Pokemon in strip form, unfortunately its run is over. If you like Pokemon, it's a fun read.
Lackadaisy Cats - A story about a speakeasy in St. Louis. The characters are also all cats. Neat story, well-researched, and really amazing pencil work. Unfortunately it doesn't update often, but that's to be expected with such gorgeous pages!
reMIND - Technically not a webcomic, but it's online so it counts. I caught up with this a while before it finished and it looks like I'll have to go for a full reread now. Notable for it's really beautiful, vivid artwork and its really weird story about man-lizards and a girl who was just worried about her pet cat.
xkcd - Science. Math. Romance. Good jokes. Alt text worth reading. What's not to love?
Homestuck - If you need me to tell you about Homestuck, you should probably be asking someone else.
I think that's it. And by that I mean I'll probably be back in five minutes to edit this post that I've spent an hour on.
Now go, and read good comics! And add to this thread if you have anything I missed! c:
