Name: Mapleheart
Age: 44 moons
Gender: Female
Allegiance: GrassClan, Medicine cat
Appearance: Mapleheart is heavyset and fluffy. Her legs are slightly shorter than normal, and her head is wide. She has thick, golden-ginger tabby fur with bold stripes. The stripes are thicker and darker on her face and near her eyes, giving her a "tired" look. Her yellowish-green eyes are almost always half-open, further enforcing her tired look.
Personality: Mapleheart is very serious. She doesn't necessarily like being a medicine cat, but she knows it is her duty to GrassClan. She firmly believes in loyalty to the clan over anything else. She believes that every member of the clan, from the oldest warrior to the youngest kit has a duty to the clan, and that every other thing should come second to that duty, including friendships and love.
Mapleheart tends to not talk very much, especially when sorting/gathering herbs. Her tired appearance is more that just looks, she is usually very sluggish and slow, like she would rather be asleep. Of course, she refuses to let herself sleep much, as she doesn't know when she'll be needed. That does tend to have detrimental effects on her state of mind, though.
As for things that annoy Mapleheart, the thing she hates the most are cats who shrug off their duties. Rebellious apprentices are likely to get a lecture from her, and if she found out about a cross-clan relationship she would work to get the offending cats exiled. She is mistrustful of cats from other clans in general, but she recognizes that she must help and receive help from the other medicines cats.
History: From a young age, Mapleheart seemed fascinated with the workings of the clans. As a young kitten, the fact that all the cats in the clan helped in someway was the most amazing thing she could think of. She couldn't wait to become an apprentice so she could help too!
But Mapleheart was never good at fighting. She constantly lost all the play-fights she and her siblings had. She was clumsy, and just seemed to not have the will to fight. One day, one of her siblings bit her a bit too hard and drew blood, leading to a visit to the medicine cat den.
While in the den, she seemed interested in the herbs and their uses. When she was old enough to be an apprentice, she asked if she could be a medicine cat apprentice rather than a warrior, as she though she would be more use as a medicine cat. After all, she was nearly useless as a fighter, and the herbs didn't seem too tough to learn.
After a while of being an apprentice, it seemed that wasn't the case, but by then she was determined to be a medicine cat. After more moons of training, she gained a strong grip on healing and herbs. However, she was still not good at all in interpreting StarClan's signs, and the occasional dreams she got from StarClan frightened her. She started staying up later than she should both to study herbs and avoid nightmares.
And of course, she found out that not every cat was as dedicated to her duties as she was. True, most cats did their job, but she could see some of them lazing around or goofing off. She couldn't really do much about that, though, unless a cat came up the medicine den to talk to her.
Now, while not exactly the best medicine cat, Mapleheart can care for cats well enough. She is reasonably content with her place in the clan. Mapleheart intends to never retire, even though she is near the age when she would. She doesn't want to waste away in the elder's den when she could be helping her clan in more productive (at least, in her opinion) ways.
